exhibit announcements

Originally I am from Brooklyn New York raised in a Russian/Polish culture. At my parents request, I learned to play the accordion when I was 8. That was fun, but I loved to draw.

My first mural "the Nativity" was painted when I was 10 for my 4th grade teacher Sister Mary Carmel. I still have 2 paintings of "Johnny Appleseed" and "Rumplestilskin" from that time.

Throughout high school and into college drawing was always a joy and a comfort. It was while studying art at the University of Miami and painting on Key Biscayne that I fell in love with the impressionists. Who, to this day, are a major source of inspiration.

The dramatic cultural changes of the late 1960s brought me back to New York. where the art of surviving on the streets became my primary source of creative effort.

In 1975 an art director saw a drawing of mine and offered me a freelance position at Record World Magazine in NYC. Art had come back into my life. The opportunity to learn publishing art, draw, and illustrate covers for the magazine was a blessing I will never forget.

Then came the 1980s. Where as co-founder of a advertising/design studio in New York City I began developing my design, photographic and creative skills. A poster design for the "Clash" concert at Bond's Casino still receives creative applause.

For 25 years I had a rewarding life contributing my time, and talents to the worlds of graphic arts, advertising, music and other creative venues. And then, in 2005 while fishing on the Eastern end of Long Island my first digital painting "The Old Dock" was born.

From that moment I knew this was something special for me as an artist. Within a year I sold my house, packed my bags, grabbed my camera, my brushes, and my laptop and began a westward journey. Some of my paintings from that time period are on display in the galleries and archives.

In 2007 my world changes forever. I meet Kathie, my muse, my love and now my wife. Everything seems different, wonderfully alive as I continue exploring further into the endless possibilities of what my son called my work - digimpressionism (digital impressionism).

Then in August of 2009, two of The Mannequins "Épuisé" and "Les Fashionistettes" were chosen from1500 submissions by the Palos Verdes Art Center's 2009 Juried All Media Exhibit. The PVAC Curator's Choice Award was given to "Les Fashionistettes".

Digital impressionism begins walking step-by-step, and then Providence speaks - now here we are in Gulfport/Tampa FL...as the journey continues.
